This video is part 1 of a 5 part series. This video series tells the development history and shows the actual components and operation of a 1940 - 1955 General Motors Hydra-Matic 4-speed Automatic Transmission.

This transmission design was used by Oldsmobile, Cadillac, Pontiac, Lincoln, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Willys, Nash, Hudson as well as the Cadillac-powered M-5 light tank during and other military vehicles World War II.
